The Michigan State Capitol has evolved from its first location in Detroit to its current, iconic structure in Lansing, dedicated in 1879. Inspired by the national Capitol in Washington, D.C., it stands as a proud symbol of Michigan's government.

Located in downtown Lansing, the Michigan State Capitol is open year-round from Monday through Friday, except on state holidays. Guided tours are available from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM and can be scheduled in advance for groups of 10 or more. Smaller groups and individuals can join existing tours.
