Is The Nordic Pineapple the best golf destination in Michigan?
It could be argued that central Michigan has become the best golf destination in Michigan in recent years with some great new golf courses and several classics. Connecting it all is highway 127, just a duck hook away from our Inn.
As a stay and play option, the Nordic Pineapple is hard to beat. Our 7 suites can accommodate groups of up to 20 people and when you take advantage of our Whole House Rental, we can:
Customize a breakfast time and menu for your group
Recommend and get your group a discount at local bar and grills
Give you a great place to relax afterwards. Relax in the lounge with a game on the large screen tv, relax out on our spacious patio or at the fire pit on the lawn.
Breakfast is always included, but we can set up catering for lunch or dinners
Choosing where to play is a gimme, you can't go wrong with any of these courses:
The Tap in:
The Emerald (St. Johns, MI) Just down the road from the Nordic Pineapple is the Gem of Mid-Michigan Golf, The Emerald Golf Course. This may be a hidden treasure to many Michigan golfers, but it's well known and the pride of golfers in St. Johns. The Jerry Mathews designed, 6,619 yard championship golf course is known for having some of the fastest greens in the state. The course is the host of the Michigan Women's Golf Association's State Championship (they always stay with us!), The Greater Lansing Amateur Golf Association's Spring Medal Play tournament and the Michigan Golf Course Superintendents State Championship.
The Emerald is our Stay and Play choice and groups get a great discount when they stay at the Nordic Pineapple. Make sure to stay below the hole on the course and visit Mulligan's Tavern afterwards and you'll have a truly memorable day on the links. (11 minute drive)
🍍Pineapple tip: Set up a custom lesson for your group while you're staying at the Nordic Pineapple. @SJ Pro is a great instructor who can customize a group lesson that works for your party before your round.
In the Short Grass:
Eagle Eye Golf Course (Lansing, MI) A true premier golf destination, Eagle Eye draws golfers from all over the country. In 2017 Golf Advisor raters ranked Eagle Eye #5 in the nation! Eagle Eye Golf and Banquet Center is also home to Hawk Hollow, Timber Ridge, Woodside Golf Course (12 hole), The Falcon (9 hole) and Little Hawk (18 hole natural grass putting course). It's also the home of The Michigan PGA and hosts numerous tournaments. (22 minute drive)
Bucks Run (Mt. Pleasant, MI) A short distance north of the Nordic Pineapple, Mt. Pleasant is home to two of Michigan's best golf courses. Bucks Run is another Jerry Mathew's design and features river frontage, picturesque lakes, and natural wetlands over a 7000 yard championship course. You can play The Bucks Run Putting Island (18-hole, real-grass course in the middle of a large lake) or even choose to give their Golf Board's a try! (47 minute drive)
PohlCat Golf Course (Mt. Pleasant, MI) The Pohlcat is a "must play" in Michigan played over, and around, the scenic 100-foot wide Chippewa River. The course was designed by former PGA Tour pro, and Mt. Pleasant native, Dan Pohl. (48 minute drive)
🍍Pineapple tip: Plan to play both Bucks Run and The PohlCat in the same day. Rarely will you find two courses of this caliber so close together. If you prefer, choose one, then visit the nearby Soaring Eagle Resort and Casino.
On the screws:
Not to be outdone, these courses would highlight any Mid-Michigan golf trip.
